Valley crossing the center of the Chapada Diamantina National Park, the trek: the Vale do Pati is a total spiritual chill-out area, but it does also require a considerable physical effort.
My suggestion
You really need to get a local guide from a local agency to take you around the region. This is a remote and isolated area with virtually no cell phone signal and where you can go for days without seeing another living soul.

My suggestion
You can do it alone, but bear in mind that the path is not always marked out. Not knowing the trail, I decided to hire a guide, who I found in Capao. It made the whole experience easier and gave us the chance to see things that we could have missed had we been alone. Certainly the best way to enjoy a perfect walk!
